Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
So thats that so. A complete disaster of a management team. I was willing to give Baker the benefit of the doubt but his choice of selectors, Mulhare in particular, have ended that. Conservative, archaic, old fashioned fantasists with nothing in common with the modern player, their time has come an...

'The Club' was some read. A book about death told through sport - fantastic.

Re: 1981 Offaly v Laois SHC now on Youtube
It never fails to strike me how poor games of generations past look in comparison to today's fare. For that reason it's usually best to take a skeptical view of any crys of falling standards compared to the magic of 'back in the day'. To quote Christy Ring: 'Let no one say the best hurlers belong to...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
A couple of points: Firstly: There are many ways to judge potential managers. Career as a player, career as a manager, titles won, style of tactics, personality etc. None one facet is above the rest and none are a guarantee of success. Experience in particular, is held as the holy grail of what an i...

This is disappointing news. Sad really. Whats done is done however, so we can but see.
Anybody know anything about Alan Cunningham, the coach? Anybody any info on the selectors?

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
I mean think about it, whatever Ollie Baker would know with his 2 All-Ireland medals, Pat would have to know four times as much. Simple.Bord na Mona man wrote:Now ye have it lads!GreatDayForTheParish wrote:Pat Spillane has 8 All-Ireland medals. He'd be the right man for the job.

He managed Roscrea in 2010 and 2011.
They haven't made any strides.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
OverTheBlackSpot put it well in his opening paragraph - for a variety of reasons yesterday had a depressing feel about it. No atmosphere, although each game being over at half time certainly didn't help. This along with the poor standard of hurling made for an extremely disappointing and underwhelmi...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
Lads, if we were to go through all if Paddy Kirwans mishaps and deficiencies as a manager, we could be here all day. From this year alone we have the abject organisation and performance of the County U-21's along with the 'pull hard' techniques he instilled in Drumcullen (and not much else). All I h...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
I doubt the validity of the above statement BUT if it was true, the panel should just strike. Such a course of action should never be suggested lightly but that's how strongly I, and I believe many others, would feel on the issue. The future of Offaly Hurling is at stake, we are one more bad appoint...
