It's a case of there being a big hurling match this weekend and they fully expected Ballycumber to beat them anyway so they feel it's better to concede, focus on the hurling for now and then the footballers can get a loan of the hurlers for the relegation playoff in two weeks.faithfulfanatic wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 8:16 am Rynaghs giving walkover in Senior B football tonight - wow.
I know that the games were all moved last Thursday/Friday but in any case, they could surely field?
Is it a case of not enough lads will play or just avoiding a hammering?

Maybe a case for playing the senior B and lower
League late spring early summer
So they can go on there holidays
Or does that interfere with moon being on the wain
Or Venus and Mars both appearing in Gemini
Full moon Fergus ( remember him )
Should be doing the club fixture lists lol
Just rambling on, impossible to know what the second half of that post is even about
And as for your point on the leagues, are they not already in late spring and early summer?

Very few of the hurlers even play anyway I believe, aside from Joey O’Connor and 1 or 2 from the Cloghan end of the parish.Anonymous1 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 4:44 pmIt's a case of there being a big hurling match this weekend and they fully expected Ballycumber to beat them anyway so they feel it's better to concede, focus on the hurling for now and then the footballers can get a loan of the hurlers for the relegation playoff in two weeks.faithfulfanatic wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 8:16 am Rynaghs giving walkover in Senior B football tonight - wow.

You’d think the lads actually playing all year would still want to play, and draft in the hurlers if needs be in 2 weeks time.

They were already on life support in terms of playing numbers last year but Lusmagh entering a Junior football team this year was the final nail in their coffin.faithfulfanatic wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 9:49 pmVery few of the hurlers even play anyway I believe, aside from Joey O’Connor and 1 or 2 from the Cloghan end of the parish.Anonymous1 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 4:44 pmIt's a case of there being a big hurling match this weekend and they fully expected Ballycumber to beat them anyway so they feel it's better to concede, focus on the hurling for now and then the footballers can get a loan of the hurlers for the relegation playoff in two weeks.faithfulfanatic wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 8:16 am Rynaghs giving walkover in Senior B football tonight - wow.

Their last three meeetings (where applicable)
Senior B quarter-finals mightn't be applicable, depends on Gracefield's submission to the DRA.
Bracknagh v Ferbane
In 2004, Ferbane were 2-12 to 0-7 winners in what appears to be their sole Senior championship meeting
Durrow v Edenderry
In 2018, Edenderry were 0-15 to 1-5 winners
Last year Edenderry won 1-16 to 0-8
Clara v Shamrocks
In 2010, Clara were 1-9 to 0-8 winners
In 2011, Clara were 1-18 to 0-8 winners
In 2019, Shamrocks were 2-10 to 1-7 winners.
Ballycommon v Walsh Island
Looks like their first meeting at Senior level. They met twice in 1996's Junior championship, the Island winning the group game 1-13 to 2-6 and also winning the subsequent play-off.
Ballycumber v Gracefield
In 2016, Gracefield were 2-17 to 2-11 winners
In 2020, Gracefield were 2-9 to 0-11 semi-final winners

Re: Club football championship 2023
It wouldn't be unusual for a DRA announcement to be made in the wee small hours of a Saturday morning. The DRA members fit their DRA duties around their day jobs. Plus, August is the only month that legal people can take holidays, when courts aren't sitting.

Re: Club football championship 2023
Ballycommon V Walsh Island is going ahead as fixed as it isn't impacted by the outcome of Gracefield appeal.
Outcome was expected by 11:30 at latest this evening....still waiting.

Re: Club football championship 2023
Ferbane and Edenderry have qualified for the semi finals, defeating Bracknagh, and Durrow respectively after today’s quarter finals. Ferbane had an impressive 3-15 to 0-7 win , while Edenderry left it late to overcome Durrow 1-11 to2-7. Durrow added just a goal in the second half, while the winners scored 1-8 after the break, Cian Farrell got the winning score for the Reds.
Can either of today’s winners upset the odds versus Rhode or Tullamore in the penultimate round?

Ferbane certainly can, Edenderry can’t in my opinion.SearingDrive wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 9:01 pm Ferbane and Edenderry have qualified for the semi finals, defeating Bracknagh, and Durrow respectively after today’s quarter finals. I had no idea SR had such a dependency on the Lusmagh footballers. Literally no idea.
