Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023
Have to say that was a fair performance in tough conditions last night from the Offaly minors.
I will say that Laois looked fairly limited but they hammered Longford the last outing.
Against the wind we held our own and Laois missed 3 or 4 points, we easily left 1-02 behind us.
No panic, kicked a bad wide early in second half but then outscored Laois 2-08 to 1pt. Unusual but after a 5 pt deficit, last 10 mins were a stroll. Good composure and never gave up a goal opportunity.
Movement of the ball up the field was generally good and they stretched Laois , particularly in the second half. We are a big enough side and the fact that the ref let a lot more go than you would expect probably suited us.
15 points would not have flattered us on the night.
In tighter games they will need to put some quicker ball into the forward line and there were good runs made by the inside men.
But definitely there is a size to these lads in general and if they keep at it they should be a good u20 side.
Just want to acknowledge the management who would have been late getting started compared to other counties and seem to be doing a decent job. Get out of the group and get asmany games as possible for these lads. Home to Longford I think next week, and with the right atitude should be good enough to progress.

Great performance last night in conditions that you could have remade Das Bot !
Missed a few chances first half but it's nice to get a win .
Laois looked average at best but you have got to win these games

Offaly battled well today. Kk are average enough and could've scored 4 or 5 goals today but offaly dug in and gave them lots of it. 2 -15 to 14 points.

Great result for the minors great to see the south of the county be represented .
Some good footballers down here but I think sometimes we are the lepers of the football fraternity

Well done to the Minor Footballers. Unreal chance for the U20 hurlers to take a scalp on Saturday with Galway missing all their seniors thanks to that crazy rule.

Is that official, how many start for galway?
Re: Offaly Minn r Football and Hurling 2023
Not even about who starts, once you are in the senior squad and apparently there are four and one injured you can't play. Liam Collins appears in all games for their seniors and is a serious talent. Galway only scraped over Wexford the last day without them. Its the one good advantage about being in the Joe McDonagh, as the rule only applies to Liam McCarthy teams.

Relax. I'm counting 11 of the 2020 Minor All-Ireland winners who are selected to start for Galway tomorrow.

It makes the competition messy. Wexford bet kk who weren't allow have billy drennan. Kk then hammer galway with Billy scoring 2 12.

Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023
Does anyone know the difference between the green team and the gold team that we submitted to play in the underage celtic challenge tournament?
Is it to do with the areas of the county they’re pulling players from or is it the relative strength of each team?

Green are U17s, Gold are U16s. Lads who have received game time in the Leinster Minor championship are ineligible. As far as I know.

Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023
By the way, don't judge Celtic Challenge on results alone. It's part of a development process, the U16s will have a squad of 35ish, and most if not all will be given game time in an intercounty environment. They will likely face opposition who are a year older. Plus, lads will be tried in different positions, and 9 subs will be used per match. So be patient. It's not all about results.

Absolutely, results are not important. Preparing properly and been coached correctly along with game time are what matters. Who are the mgt team of the celtic challenge group?
