A savage amount of work is going on at underage level in Offaly at present more than ever in our history.
If we are happy to blame the CB when the teams are hammered then equally they deserve credit when teams are properly prepared.
It's away to Carlow next on Saturday the 15th of June and if they overcome that it's home to the Dubs on the 26th of June.
Great to see a big win tonight. We are not dead and buried just yet.
I was at the game. Weather conditions made things very slippery. Offaly much better , westmeath very poor. No threat at all. No match program as they were all gone. Best for Offaly, numbers 3, 5, 8 and 13. Brian duignan, no.19 was brought in and added real tempo to game when he came on, caught two high balls and scored a point minutes after coming on.. Offalys goal was excellant. Free 45 yards out, lined up to put it over bar but played it short to free man on 21 who turned man and scored. Looked like a rehearsed move. All in all, westmeath very poor and for the first 15 minutes of 2nd half both teams handling was terrible. Then Offaly kicked on to finish strong. Tough one vs Carlow and then it will be a bridge too far vs Dublin.

Will that game be on the 15th against Carlow with the senior hurling down in Kerry the same day? Well done tonight to the young lads. There is a lot of talent within that squad and a dry day would suit them a lot more than a wet one. Here’s hoping they claim a few scalps in the coming weeks as they are well capable of doing.
