God, yeah! That's three savage beatings Offaly are after taking from Dublin in the last 18 months. Not able for them at all. And not able for Kilkinny or Wexford nayther.

Said defeats, not savage beatings. Your so precious.
Kk in nowlan Park. Dubin in parnell and galway anywhere, Offaly are not winning. Kk could easily have won this year. Tj missed frees he'd put over in his sleep in OCP. Wasn't until wexford went to 14 Offaly showed any sort of command of the situation and even at thst it was fairly jittery.
Offaly staying in liam mcarthy is the priority.

Offaly are not winning in Parnell Park?
Lost by 3 there last year and should have had them put away - not exactly insurmountable

Offaly will find it very difficult in those venues.
I'm not saying offaly won't be very competitive or come close to winning. I'm saying it will be very difficult to actually get the wins.
Offaly will need players to be added to the panel to contribute to whats already there,.

I had a chuckle at Cork’s demise this year. Quite simply because they thought Bin O’Connor’s nasty edge was going to put steel into windy players. All it did was increase their capacity to pick up cheap red cards, it did nothing to help their brittleness.
If they thought Bin’s 2023 sledgefest against Offaly was the future template, they looked at the wrong match.
Their 2024 U20 loss to Tipp under Bin was more revealing. Cork with the lion’s share of possession, but no-one taking responsibility. So instead of shooting they kept trying to bring it up close to the Tipp goal. Tipp were under hellfire for most of the game, but won it off scraps of possession and break out scores.
As has been pointed out, Cork’s inability to nab long range scores was fatal on Saturday.
Sometimes comes from paying much too much attention to certain stats. If you zone in on metrics like conversion rates and efficiency, then players start shooting from closer range to make sure. You can stat pad against weaker teams but it then gets exposed on the biggest stage.
Offaly will still be licking their wounds from Thurles two weeks ago, but every Offaly player should take massive encouragement by what they saw from Galway. You need to get in the faces of the top teams and test their pulse. Stand off and show respect and they’ll give an exhibition.
Offaly have plenty of levels to climb, but all going well, there will be game in the future where Offaly ‘arrive’, and put the likes of Cork on their arse.

Not sorry for Bin’s loss on Saturday. Faced with a resolute and physical Galway, they wilted. I recall an agitated Ben O’Connor losing it over a disputed Tipperary winning point in the Munster Final. Things tend to balance out in matches.

Henry in as new Kilkenny manager, David Herity as coach. You’d imagine Kilkenny will improve a lot

I'm sure Kilkenny will improve a lot from 2026. Wouldn't be sure that it'll be due to Henry though. He hasn't set the world alight in his coaching career. Winning with Ballyhale last year was probably the best achievement.

He won 1 as co-manager back in his first stint.
With himself as the main man, they managed to win the Kilkenny SHC last year, having failed to do so the previous 2 years while he was in Galway, so that was considered pretty successful. They lost the Leinster final but they were unlucky to be without Adrian Mullen. He left then to take the U20s this year.

Shefflin won two all Irelands with Ballyhale 2019 and 2020.

Great point made here about the Cork 23 and 24 under 20 teams. Ben's teams.
In Thurles in the the 23 All Ireland final, they got away with sledging in the first minute and it set the tone. Screeney nearly had his head taken off him. At minium it was a yellow and all of a sudden the full back is under pressure. Instead he gets away with it and goes out to take Cormac Egan out of the game with another late heavy challenge. Egan had been causing them huge problems and we looked at him for over 12 minutes up to half time unable to walk and cork did damage in that period.
Roll on to the munster final 24. Cork adopted another sly approach. Late hits and the arm up around neck area tackles. It back fired because the ref pulled them up and Tipp won a huge amount of important frees both in defence and attack. Cork had enough hurlers to win that game but indiscipline cost them.

To me, it sums up Cork that even when they're going badly, they cannot conceive that it might be because others are better than them in any way. They clung onto this myth that they're "too nice", not understanding that Limerick weren't winning games because they were willing to lower the blade in a way that Cork teams were too polite to match. Sure, there's not a lot of give in the likes of Kyle Hayes and Aaron Gillane when they're hurling, and off the field, they and a few others have been guilty of less than perfect behaviour at times. Then you have the trickery of Nickie Quaid's contact lenses and all that stuff, but that's not why Limerick have won all the All-Irelands that they did.
There is a mental strength and an ability to be at your best under pressure in Limerick, as there was in Brian Cody's Kilkenny teams, and that's what Cork struggle to match. But to acknowledge that would be to acknowledge a weakness on your own part, and when it comes to d'Langers, their brains will short circuit before they process something like that. It has to be that the other team is willing to cheat in a way that they weren't, up to now.
Cork probably would have won that U-20 final in 2023 anyway since that Offaly team was largely an U-18 side, but they rolled the dice by risking an early red card, and got away with it when it wasn't awarded. Essentially they took a game where they had an 85% likelihood of winning, and that high hit on Cormac would have left it either 95/5 (as it did) or 50/50 if a red card was issued. Now you don't have to have a maths degree to see that that's not the smart play.
Perhaps incidents like the Tadhg Kennelly hit on Nicholas Murphy in 2009 played on their mind, but the maths was different there since a red card in the first few minutes of a senior final is still a hard call for any ref to make, and even then, we look at it with hindsight based on what the ref did, as opposed to what the ref might have done.
I thought the same after the 2023 All-Ireland football final as well, when everyone praised James McCarthy's influence and the Sunday Game named him as their player of the year, even though he took a huge risk of a red card with some of his hits in the final but got away with it as well. Any ref other than David Gough (who lives in Dublin) and I think he costs Dublin that All-Ireland.
But to a simple mind, Cork's win in 2023 and Ben O'Connor's demands that referees stop turning the game "soft" meant that Cork were now willing to dish out the thuggery and just take out opposition stars, so to morons, that equals 'toughness'.
And as long as they continue to misunderstand the difference between that fake strength and the type of strength that we saw from Gearóid Hegarty on Sunday, or from Ronan Glennon and Jason Rabbitte on Saturday, they'll continue to be flat track bullies, but no more.

Yep, the Tipp keeper let a ball spill out of hand and it even hit the roof of the net while he was trying to recover it.

thats exactly what cork are. flat track bullies. they sewed it into dublin last year and offaly this year. cahillane doing screeney with a cowardly hit. he then got made a bollox of by a young strong lad jason rabbitte. lovely to see. and offaly players have all winter to think about taking on the likes of cork and beating them.a year older wiser and stronger.
