Offaly U20 Hurling Championship

Post by Dodge83 »

With the championship ready to start in less than 2 weeks time , is it hard to look past Kk again ? Or can CRCC go one better than last year and win the title ? Will SBK push on and be victorious?

Belmont vs Tullamore in Moystown
Kinnitty/ Lusmagh vs Kk in Lusmagh
Clara/ Brosna Gaels vs DSK in Clara

SBK won the corresponding minor championship to the best of my knowledge.

K/K didn’t even make the final.

Hasn’t been a winner other than K/K since 2019 who are after 7 in a row.

Considering they’ve also won 6 of the last 7 minors if they do win this year’s U20 they could feasibly go on and claim 10 U20’s in a row.

Is it not a fair point to make when clubs fail to field?. It is shocking that two clubs joined together can't field at u20. Hardly good is it?

Theres no panic at all. Sometimes real life gets in the way. As the sayings go in south and went Offaly- no point winning the county final if the hay/silage is still in the field.

There'll be hurling in Kinnitty and Lusmagh this year, next year and the year after that.

Two senior A clubs unable to field doesn't reflect well.
Once conceding matches becomes normalised your on a slippery slope.

I agree. And it’s a fair comment to make POTH, no need for wistful talking about hay or whatever.

Not good for the clubs involved, the competition and Offaly hurling in general that teams are unable to field at A level.

For Kinnitty and Lusmagh in particular, demographics are against them.

Could someone post the format of this championship?
Is it the same as last year, losers of round 2 exit the championship?
If this is the case some big hitters are out early.
Serious lack of understanding of how this format is being ran.

Great win for Belmont. As someone said earlier, did SBK win this age group at minor but have given a walkover last night?

Some teams not happy they gave the walk over consdiering they are genuine title contenders and now on paper seem to have an easier route to the final.

Don't know the format of this championship but hard to believe you can give a walkover and still be in the next round. Does that mean KK are still in the competition?
