Re: O’Byrne Cup 2019…ish
Hi all. From a Carlow perspective we d have been disappointed to loose - not that it mattered in the competition but with a decent team out and having a lot of possession, the one point difference was too tight. Good game - first under new rules I ve seen. We possibly are further down the line in terms of the majority of panel/coaches having worked together for last few years. Showed with things like the kick out strategy as an example. I didn't know a lot of your lads but a few showed up well. Ye kicked some bad wides at times especially your number 14 off both feet. But he showed for it at least. We weren't relying on frees - which we have done heavily in the past, so it shows that ye were disciplined or maybe not cynical enough! Double edged sword as we kicked a good bit from play which is unusual. Our 2 midfielders were a handful for ye and their physicality showed - Brendan was lucky enough with a stray elbow in second half. Anyway, it was a good way to blow off the Xmas cobwebs for the players and supporters. Maybe ye ll even the score tomorrow!

Thanks Old yellar for the Carlow view. I wasn't in Carlow, so relying on those who were. We have a young team with a few regulars, as some players have opted out. I can't understand that, but that is life nowadays.
Carlow are probably further ahead than Offaly, our turnover in managers doesn't help developing a long term strategy.
League starts this month, Carlow are visiting Tullamore, maybe we can reverse yesterday's result.
Happy 2019 to you on Barrowside.
