How participants interact with the media is one of the great traditions of the GAA.
a) Spend the week before the game talking up the opposition, regardless on how dung they are.
b) Give off stink that you were 'written off' if you win a game against the odds.

Both are silly in their own ways.

In fairness to the Limerick players they were talking themselves up to anyone who would listen in recent weeks and they had been written off in the media.

- 'O'Grady departed last Sunday and, however hard everyone works at repairing the damage before the championship, it's likely that this season is a write-off.' - Martin Breheny, 23 April 2014.

In all fairness, anyone relying in Martin Breheny for educated analysis on hurling really needs to get out more. The man knows nothing about hurling and has an imagination to match his hurling knowledge.

This is never good news.

Did he pick up a recent injury or is this a migraine kind of thing?

Wishing him a speedy recovery and hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

Is it right that details of an individual's health be stated on a site such as this? It's something I am uneasy with. I think it's the chap' own business, and that of his family.

Best wishes to James for a full recovery.

PS, on rereading the post above, he says meningitis isn't confirmed, and he's broadcasting the news. Have some respect. Please.

While Kilkenny are still the team to beat this year, that line up certainly doesn't have the quality of Kilkenny circa 2008.
Wexford's 10 point win over Kilkenny U21s last night and Dublin thrashing their minors is further reminder that the Cats don't have the same empire of old.
After reading that teamsheet, it would unforgivable if Offaly didn't believe that they could give this Kilkenny and unpleasant evening on Saturday.
