Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

A lot of empty talk going on.

Offaly have no say in re-doing the whole league fixture schedule.

Plenty of teams face off in hurling and football every year without wanting to re-do the entire league system to get a double header.

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024

Cormac Egan introduced as a second half sub for UCD as their comeback fell short in the Sigerson Cup Final against Ulster University. Cormac was very impressive with his power running and tracking back. Wing forward seems his ideal position. Highlight had to be his tackle on one of the Canavan's to ...

Doesn't matter what they call it
It's what on the field matters
Players going away this year is going to be a bigger issue.
Players going away?
Cleary and Clancy are gone months now.

Who else is going?

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

How the mighty have fallen, celebrating a draw against 13 man Wexford. Some of our heroes from the past would be turning in their graves. How dare you. Our heroes from the past would be as proud of this county as they were on any big day. That's what being a real supporter and Gael is. Not fligning...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Lads are getting totally carried away with themselves after last night. Yes it was nice to see them compete with a Liam McCarthy team and I actually thought the fitness levels were good, the pressing from our full forward line in particular was impressive. Kiely is an absolute warrior and needs pro...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Jury is out on Kelly. We might win the joe McDonagh Cup but I don't see what he has done so far. Relative to where we were when he took us over, would you not think its fair to say he’s done a good job? We struggled through last year's league and should have won the joe McDonagh last year We persis...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Savage stuff. Kelly has them on the right path. Jury is out on Kelly. We might win the joe McDonagh Cup but I don't see what he has done so far. Jury is out? That might be the greatest sh1t I’ve ever seen on here and that would take some doing. Great display, not our fault Wexford got 2 sent off. O...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

In lovely Wexford for this evening’s match.

Eoghan Cahill out with injury.

All the talk is that a certain Killoughey hurler will make his senior inter county league debut from the start.

Best of luck to all.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Is the point not been made that of ballinamere should be named as they are the hurling wing? Same with Shirley, why put down Tubber when bronsa gaels are the ones who promote hurling where as Tubber do the opposite. Think it’s based off home club, which they seem to apply across the board, except w...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

5 Durrow lads on the team, apparently. They must have published the football lineup accidentally. Apparently? I think it’s fairly clear that there is. It speaks testament to the great work going on in the B/D club. It also reflects changing demographics, as 2 of the players are sons of former count...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Looks to be much the same team that started against Waterford, with the only changes being Mark Troy making his league debut in goals and David King in for the suspended Leon Fox. Cahill and Conneely both went off injured last week, will be interesting to see do they start. Mitchell only came on for...

Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023

Banagher got out of jail. Dominated against the wind before letting in 2 soft goals before half time. Clawed that deficit back with the wind before another soft goal went in. Heywood missed a free 30 yards out to win it with the last puck of the game after 68 minutes (although nobody was sure where ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Was pleasantly surprised by minute 35-55 against Waterford, more than held our own and actually scored more playing into a gale. Two goals in a minute really killed any momentum we had built in the first half. Kiely’s 4 or 5 first half wides were also demoralising, but as pointed out here already, t...

Rory Egan was in goals for UG.

I'd imagine Egan and Donoghue would be playing if fully fit, both back after long-term injury trouble and 3 games a week would be recipe for disaster

Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023

Very impressed with Banagher on Saturday. Seemed to be a bit of complacency with our Birr lads having beat Banagher by 12 in the group. Although I am told that took place the morning after St Rynaghs had won the minor a football, with St Brendan’s unwilling to move the hurling. Shane Rigney was head...
