Re: Offaly v Antrim N.H.L 18-3-2012

A strange game today - even when Offaly were nine points up it could hardly be said they were playing well. A lethargic, heavy pace throughout not helped by the deplorable attendance. Nine points up at one stage, this was cut to four as Antrim (with the wind) lorded it from the 47th to the 60th minu...

Re: Best chipper in Offaly?

The chipper van that pulls up in downtown Kinnitty of a weekend night? Post of the Day!! Never sampled it's delights yet and going to try and keep it that way. Best chippers I've been in are in no particular order: Macari's, Birr. Toni's, Birr. Macari's, Tullamore. Sorrento's, Tullamore. The best c...

Where would you have it?
Birr or Tellamore.
The new home of Offaly Football - the only place where the Gods show us any fortune.
That place? Gracefield.

Re: Wexford v Offaly NHL 11.03.2012

That was a lamentable defeat on Sunday and further adds to the litany of losses to crap Wexford teams. I'm between two minds as to the value or otherwise of the result last Sunday and can see merits to both arguments outlined above. My own feeling is that given our recent history and the psychologic...

Re: Antrim v Offaly

National interest and knowledge of Offaly GAA, its players and its teams is abysmal across all broadcast media. I guarantee you, one could ask any of the senior hurling analysts of 'The Sunday Game' to name 50% of the Offaly Hurling Team, the positions they play and their clubs and 90%, if not all, ...

Re: Offaly v Laois NHL Round 1 26/2/12

Additionally, has Brian Watkins left the panel? A pity if he has. From underage, he's always seemed to me as a player with the class to make it on the inter-county stage. A corner back berth may well have been within his reach this year.

Re: Offaly v Laois NHL Round 1 26/2/12

Not much point saying to much about that today, Laois were rancid. My worry about a Rigney, Hanniffy, Horan half back line lies not in their ability but in the balance of the team generally. Asides from the fact that Morkan, in my view, is easily the best wing back in the county, all of those three ...

Re: Offaly v Laois NHL Round 1 26/2/12

One thing that must be commended about Ollie Baker's tenure thus far is the releasing of teams to the media a few days in advance of a game. It makes a pleasant change from the last few years and not having a clue as to who would be playing. Long may it continue as if nothing else it gives us somet...

Re: Offaly v Laois NHL Round 1 26/2/12

Can anyone shed any light on the situation wirh Del Morkham? He was one of our better hurlers over the last couple of years, he seems to be struggling to get any game time at the moment, any of ye hurling experts any reasons why? Haven't heard anything specific. Ever since he arrived in the scene t...
