Re: Offaly vs Galway 17/6/2012 LSHC Semi Final
I agree with Kinnittyman on this one. As monumental and significant as the win against Wexford was 10 days ago, valid criticisms of the team have been made on this forum. It is thus reasonable to be disappointed that the same starting 15 had been named. A winning team is never comprised of 15 faultl...

Re: Offaly Vs Wexford in the Leinster U21HC
Eoin Ryan's exclusion is perplexing and cannot be purely for hurling reasons. In addition to Brendan Murphy's injury the absence of a significant Birr contingent may be explained by the fact that perhaps Eoin Hayes, Sean T O'Connor etc are doing their Leaving Cert? Regardless, the very best of luck ...

Re: Hurling Championship
Well thats definitely the end of Birr anyway. No doubt about it. Any chance Carrig and Riverstown could take their place in the Senior Championship? Dark horses.

Re: Relegated
it shows the interest in offaly football at the moment that there wasn't even a thread on the tipp game i think most people don't care or have lost interest in offaly football years ago. its sad to see them in division 4 but with lads who have seen them play and went to the games this year they wou...

Re: Offaly v Clare NHL 01/04/2012
We should have won this game today if Baker had set up the team correctly. we had 6 centre backs on the Bench today Sean Coughlan, Joe Brady, Eanna Murphy,Peter Healion, Paul Cleary and Rory Hanniffy, and we started Morkan at centre back. Not to be pedantic but Del routinely lines out at centre bac...

Re: Offaly v Clare NHL 01/04/2012
If the second half against Limerick was bad then the first today against Clare was worse. Much worse. Just to recap. In the game today, Offaly had the following advantages: 1: Clare with nothing to play for. 2: Clare putting out an experimental line up. 3: Offaly with everything to play for. 4: Clar...

Re: Offaly v Clare NHL 01/04/2012
Enough. Joe Brady has nowhere near the mobility required for inter-county hurling. Analyze the play of any decent inter-county centre back (or centre forward) and look at the pace they are required to have, the ground they have have to cover, the sidesteep, agility etc. Jesus, the notion that all a ...

Re: Offaly v Limerick NHL 24/03/2012
I think Stephen Egan and Brian Watkins should be considered for the corner back positions. I also think that Conneely and Kelly from Rynaghs should get an chance at midfield. The return of the Coolderry forwards will greatly improve our scoring power. Egan is out injured following an operation I be...

Re: Offaly v Limerick NHL 24/03/2012
good point on bring Horan into the half forward line, just a question lads were saying how many Coolderry would get on the offaly side this year? Watching the last few league games and the trouble we are in the forwards and midfield there could be 4 or more? . Don't overreact. Carroll, Parlon, Ryan...

Re: Offaly v Limerick NHL 24/03/2012
That was a worryingly poor Offaly performance last night. Unlike Wexford two weeks ago, we must not let the final scoreboard conceal the fact that for long periods of the game last night we were hopeless. The forward play, particularly in the second half, was some of the worst seen by an Offaly fron...

Re: Offaly v Limerick NHL 24/03/2012
Limerick have their 15 named with both Downes and Hannon not listed. Whether they'll play on Saturday remains to be seen. Limerick concern over their team would appear to be focused on their full back line with little consensus or confidence in any of the full back candidates. Despite his form in re...

Offaly v Limerick NHL 24/03/2012
Really looking forward to this Saturday night, it will be a useful barometer of where we currently stand. A pity though its on after the football. It's hard to know where Limerick are at the moment with mixed signals coming from their camp. Their opening round loss against Clare may well be viewed i...

Re: Offaly v Antrim N.H.L 18-3-2012
You are given the Offaly senior hurling job and the Leinster draw gives you a home game in the Quarter Final. Now as manager you are well chuffed as home venue could be worth 2 to 4 points in a tight tough championship games as your players will know the venue inside out from their league campaings...

Re: Offaly v Antrim N.H.L 18-3-2012
The crowd today was absolutely pathetic, 300 maximum. This in a town with a population of 12,000. It is an indictment upon all, the County Board and the supporters and can only be demoralising for the players. That is the real worry. That O'Connor Park is a fine venue and will be used for Offaly's c...
