Re: new football manager
I think Micko would be an interesting choice, what have we got to lose? A high profile name like that would get a huge response locally, and nationally, even the 1982 game would be thrown in the mix. Maybe some local benefactor might cover the expenses. Don't think a local manager would work though,...

Re: new football manager
Real Rob, I was working with a selector on that Ballymore team of that time and he was very critical of Kavanagh's attidude and dreadful poor form at the time, the James Kavanagh of today is a different player to one of 5 years ago and also the Kildare squad of 5 years ago were going nowhere fast e...

Great result for Ballycommon! Ferbane must be one of the ...

Re: Offaly v Cork, SHC qualifier, 25/6/2011
I made a first time trip to Pairc Ui Caoimh last Saturday, and must agree with the sentiments expressed. It was disappointing to lose a game we dominated, especially in the first half. Offaly should have been out of sight if we took our chances. Cork got 2 early goals, but never looked like adding to...

Re: Lets start playing the club championships again
The format of the Cork Senior championship is, of course, important if you are using it for comparative purposes. For your information, both Cork Senior championships are run on a straight knockout basis with a back door for first round losers only. It can be played off in about five weekends. But ...

Re: Offaly GAA Fixtures June 1-8
Sorry for the delay lads haven't been on in the last couple of days.. Offaly 1-19 - 0-22 Clare. Offaly started with 12 of the players that played against Dublin, the 3 missing were Brian Carroll, Stephen Egan and Joe Bergin. Shane Dooley was once again the hero with a 68th minute goal from a 21 yar...

Re: Lets start playing the club championships again
Don't care how Cork play off their football championship. The point is that the largest county in Ireland can have their footbal final one week after contesting the All Ireland Final, while Offaly are out of the championship in July, but we have a complete halt for 2 months May to July, and play our...

Re: Hurling Qualifier Draw
Maybe Laois will pull off a shock, they are at home!. What have the Gods against Offaly, if it is Cork, we are travelling to Pairc Ui Chaoimh, for a difficult game, maybe it will be on a Saturday.
The footballers could play in the back garden, and I'd close the curtains!

Re: Lets start playing the club championships again
I agree with the sentiment that we play off the Club championships, while we await the qualifier draws. We will be out of both hurling and football in July, yet we won't play our county finals until October!!!. The counties who reach the All Ireland finals will be playing their finals at the same ti...

Re: Offaly Team to face Wexford in Leinster Football Championshi
Saturday's game hinged on 2 first half incidents. Offaly's missed penalty, and just what Offaly didn't need, Wexford get a goal. They went in 6 up at the break. Offaly only got 2 points in the second half, with the wind!. Wexford got 1-7 against the wind. Wexford had a plan, and other than giving it ...

Re: Pat Spillane tips Offaly to reach LSFC.
I heard that discussion as well, seems Offaly don't exist to the ''experts''. On last night's overlong Sunday Game,(An hour at most given the substandard football discussed, 5 minutes of a far better Leinster SHC game!)it was all Dublin, bar one vote for Kildare. Spillane did say Dublin would beat O...

Re: Offaly v Limerick SH Challenge
I'm glad Dublin game is on the box, after that report on the SH challenge. I do't fancy heading for Croker and see the Dubs hammer us. Wexford host Antrim the same day, why not a double header?. Last year Offaly played Antrim in Parnell Park, and in 2009 Galway played the Cats in Tullamore. Why have...

Re: Offaly v Kilkenny 17-04-11
Offaly hurling 13/07/1980 to 17/04/2011 RIP Sadly, I have to agree. Yesterday's result means Offaly have ceased to be a hurling force for the foreseeable future, unless we go back to basics and develop the underage structures, so we can start to compete again, but we have to be patient. This is how...

Re: Offaly vs Westmeath NFL 10/04/2011
Has the team been announced yet? Same old story - can't find it anywhere... Why the great mystery in finding Offaly teams listed in the media, hurling and football. Is it some cunning plan to keep us all guessing until the match starts?. Division 3 football isn't going to cause any great excitement...
