Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022
Unfortunate, but we were cutting it fine against Kerry and Down without ever giving a hint that there was more in reserve. Carlow are a tough unit and a good test of where Offaly truly stand. Clearly there is still a long way to go As has been said, we've had a serious turnover in players in recent...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022
Very disappointing performance and result today. Carlow more than deserving winners.
Thanks to all the players, management and backroom staff for all their time and effort this year.

Re: Minors hurlers 2022
Outstanding result and performance today and a very well done to all involved.
Great skill and work rate shown particularly in defence, rucks and the tackle.
Onwards now, nothing won yet. Hope Adam Screeney’s injury isn’t too bad.

Re: Reflections on Relegation
And so, it came to pass, and Offaly slipped out of Leinster hurling. The end of an era, the first time since 1921 that Offaly won’t contest the Leister Senior championship, the time befoe that was 1895, before the County Board’s foundation. There has been much debate since Sunday. Now, there are so...

Re: Rory Hanniffy retirement from offaly hurling
I remember clearly that moment during the Cork game POTH and being breathless trying to describe it to people on the phone at half time and at the end of the game.
It is those little things - great memory.

Re: Rory Hanniffy retirement from offaly hurling
It is hard in mere words to do justice to Rory Hanniffy as a hurler. He was exceptional. Utterly, utterly, exceptional. Everything was fast, at times a blur - the feet, the wrists, the strike, the head. His skill was incomparable. Respected on the pitch and a gentleman off it, he is the player for a...

GAA Central Funding
Just a quick note to draw attention to a long standing inequality that may about to be somewhat rectified. In an era where Dublin GAA is financially self sustaining through their multitude of high earning sponsorship deals and generous gate receipts from the constant use of Croke Park (among other t...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
Multiple times I have said that KK are utterly deserving of their county titles. They are, by a country mile, far and away the best club team in Offaly. Nothing to stop them putting 5/6/7 in a row together. Can't put it any clearer than that. I am instead making the point that for their players to f...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
It's all been far too fleeting thus far from the KK men at intercounty level. I struggle to think the last time a KK man had an exceptional game for Offaly (in that they were comfortably the best Offaly player on show) let alone a season in the kind that Brian Carroll had this year. And Healion? Nev...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
Among the worst county finals in recent memory. Two bad teams playing out a bad match. Rynaghs are poor. As are KK. People may wonder how I can say that, especially about our deserved three in a row champions. The answer is simple. Many of those KK players have been given many chances to test themse...

Re: Offaly v Kilkenny
Among the very worst days. It scarcely gets much worse than that second half sitting in Nolan Park, listening to Kilkenny people cheer Tommy Walsh drive ball after ball wide. People's anger here towards the sweeper system is a complete red herring. A totem pole for people unable to delve any deeper ...

Re: Offaly v Kilkenny
The attitude and analysis here is deplorable. Save the post mortems and histrionics for another day. One can take what they please from the charade that is the league. Tipperary just lost to KK in a much lauded league final. Set up for the championship they apparently were. Except they were roundhou...
