Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
Tullamore had two teams in Junior A two or three years ago. The better team won it. They were put in separate groups for championship - One called Tullamore and other one An Tulach Mhor.

Re: Club football and hurling managers 2033
So who are the senior football managers for 2024? From what is doing the rounds recently, Tullamore - Stack likely to stay on but unconfirmed Rhode - unknown Ferbane - Rafferty likely to stay but unconfirmed Edenderry - Declan Cummins to stay on Durrow - Change in management from last year Bracknagh...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Most of these lads would have been involved in Declan Kellys U20 teams over last 5 years or so. Kelly would have had the 2024 U26's down to U22's at U20 level. That is a fairly good insight into who are the best lads that would be available to make up the bones of the senior panel when you also fact...

Re: New club football format
Absolutely ridiculous call. Sure they may as well scrap the group games and play knock-out q-finals altogether from the start. Load of lads will head away, especially lads in college and come back then for the championship q finals in September. Lots of lads will be asked to play up from junior etc ...

Re: Changing of Underage grades and Separation from adult
Only way this will work is if Offaly decide to completely preclude U18s from playing adult - or at least are not allowed play adult until minor team is exited from championship. They need to decouple underage from adult level or there will be serious issues over fixtures. Any other way is recipe for...

Re: Club football championship 2023
Naas by 10 and won pulling up. Does it in some way cast doubt over the quality of the Offaly championship currently. Also notable wins for St Lomans. Safe to say Tullamore would likely have suffered similar fate today. Going on club form over last 10 years of so, you'd have to say that the Dublin, W...

Re: Offaly U20 footballers 2023
There's a lot of good stuff in that post from Jimbob, much of it inarguable. There's no doubt that an U-20 competition run through the summer is an advantage to standalone clubs, for all the reasons mentioned there. However the nature of U-20 competitions in hurling and football are such that there...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Weren't we in the top 4 in Leinster last year and a kick of a ball from being in the top two? Didn't we beat Meath en route to that top 4? Didn't we get out of division 3 in 2021, come within a whisker of staying in division 2 in 2022 and go into the final day last year with a chance of promotion? ...

Re: Offaly U20 footballers 2023
To be fair I think both posters have relevant points here. The timing of the competition is a huge factor and does benefit Tullamore significantly or standalone clubs. The only teams that are likely to compete with Tullamore in U20 are amalgamations - ie St Broughans, St Manchans, Na Fianna, St Vinc...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Fully agree with Jimbob. There have been lots of years in the last 15 years where Offaly have been in the top 3 or 4 teams in Leinster at minor and U20/21. Dublin are the only county significantly better than us in that time. Kildare and Meath a fraction better, but always beatable by a strong Offa...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
Kilcormacs first 6 or 7 subs are equally as good as their 9th - 15th best player. Ballygunner is great game to get as they will be favourites for All Ireland now - probably followed by Limericks Na Piarsaigh and St Thomas' Galway. Leinster is wide open now for Kilcormac to contest it with Ballyhale ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
What would the expectations be for next year? For what its worth here is what I think. For too long now we have been making up excuses that we are in transition and I'm hearing it again these days. That's absolute rubbish. We are not in transition or at least should not be. Unlike underage hurling, ...

Re: Club football championship 2023
For the forward talent at their disposal, they are falling short of where they could be I'd feel. To score only 2 pts in second half at home after a month lay off and lots of prep time is fairly poor. They should have been mad keen to go at Summerhill today at home, but showed same old failings. The...

Re: Club football championship 2023
Ballycommon won Junior A in 2017 and were intermediate then until last year. Their second team may have been Junior B in 2017.
