Re: JP McManus donation
Unpopular opinion I know, but instead of each club getting 12,000, a relatively small amount, I’d rather it was kept by the county board to fund capital infrastructure or clear debt on FF or OCP. You’re right, that is a very unpopular opinion 😂😂 What benefit is there to using it to clear debt? The ...

Re: JP McManus donation
Superb news this morning that JP McManus is to donate €1m to each county board. https://www.sportsjoe.ie/gaa/much-jp-mcmanus-donation-worth-every-club-ireland-178743 Joe.ie article from 2018 stating that each Offaly club got €2,439 back when each county board received €100,00. Re: End of year hurling standings
Colm Mulrooney with real potential to kick on for Birr, at 31 years of age :D . Can't agree with any suggestion that Clareen responded well to Barry Whelahan. By all accounts it wasn't a happy marriage. Also it is hard to see how Clodiagh Gaels can be considered 'well coached' and 'greater than the ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024
The earlier you hurl Wexford and Waterford in the year, the better they hurl. You can guarantee Davy Fitz will have the Waterford lads bursting out of their skins after 6 months of hard running underneath the belts. I don’t know if a probable absence of a few Ballygunner lads will be a help or a hin...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
My understanding is the following. Technically, all those who played in the winning Senior B final are graded Senior next year. That would mean that Kilcormac-Killoughey would have around 40 players graded Senior next year. However, the regrading rules changed about five years ago. Prior to that, t...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
What will happen with all Senior A & Senior B players now regraded as Senior A?
Will special dispensation be needed to allow lads to be regraded or is there a provision in place for this?

Re: Club football and hurling managers 2033
Coaching I believe. It's an interesting appointment, in that he's a good coach, but wouldn't be well known in my part of the world for his love and appreciation of a dual culture. And he's gone to as "dual" a parish as you will find anywhere in Ireland, where both clubs are utterly depend...

Re: Club football and hurling managers 2033
Shane Curley from Roscommon to take over in Belmont. Unsure if that is coaching and/or management. Had previously been with Four Roads and Cappataggle. Paul Keane from Adare to take over in Shinrone. Was fairly swiftly appointed after Fletcher left. Trevor Fletcher is heading north and east, taking ...

Re: Offaly Intermediate Club Hurling Championship 2023
There has been a lot of comment here about the size of Killeigh parish, and it is a big parish geographically. To make an assessment that makes Clodiagh Gaels a big club is not true, they are a dual club based n the Killeigh/ Killurin areas in the western end of the parish, bordering Killoughey and...

Re: Offaly Intermediate Club Hurling Championship 2023
I think that is very harsh they were more than competive senior in 22 and ran some teams under 10 points. The lack depth yes but I think they wouldn't be far off tullamore Kinnitty and Clareen. Thanks for that reasoned contribution. We are a small club providing sporting opportunities for our playe...

Super display by KK.
More than likely will face O’Loughlin Gaels in 2 weeks in Tullamore.

Re: Offaly Intermediate Club Hurling Championship 2023
Bray lost all ireland semi final in Tullamore last year to eventual champions Monaleen. I was at the game, they went very close to beating them. An all ireland win would see the following year Wicklow champions compete in Leinster senior club championship, just as happened with Naas. It can only be ...

Re: Changing of Underage grades and Separation from adult
Agree on both counts Greenairfield. With the KK situation, if they did go to 2 Senior A teams, I can see 3 options, all with pitfalls. A) Same system of this year applies, with teams considered first and second team. This would involve a first team naming 18 players that can only play on this ‘first...
