Re: The season begins

True Bord na Mona Man, Offaly have been a bit short in the luck department in recent years. And whatever luck evaded Offaly almost caertainly took residence in Wexford. Few can argue that there is much to seperate Offaly or Wexford, games between the two prove this. But for every time Offaly have un...

Re: The season begins

One issue to be considered with regards to these second half fadeouts is that of belief. The last 5 years have been tough for Offaly senior hurling and it just seemed that at times the players didn't have the cast iron belief that they could win against top eight opposition. So hence when any bit of...

Re: The season begins

I don't have any problem with players lining out for their respective colleges, especially at this time of the year. The college season is in full swing now and all of those involved will be playing on good teams surrounded by good players. Best of luck to them I say. What is important though is to ...

Re: Carroll Meats

If Offall played Meath now (or any other similalry coloured team for that matter) would they even have 'away' jerseys to change into? Or would we be left with some of the jersey problems that have blighted club games in recent years, e.g. any time Coolderry and Kinnity play.

Re: Were there ever so few "definite" starters for a county team

Fair point Shark although without getting in to specifics I'd have to disagree with a couple of the hurling names you would consider as definite starters. Nonetheless thats only a natural difference of opinion, your original point still stands. The footballers are just weak at the moment, plain and ...

Re: New Jerseys Please - A call to all Fans

Great so the jerseys have been changed but what about the togs/shorts? The old ones were still in view in Tullamore last Sunday. I'd have no complaints if they were decent but they're not, completly lacking either the Offaly name or crest. To add further insult to injury all the Offaly players weren...

Scheduling of the All-Ireland Club Championships

Upon Ballyhale Shamrocks victory against Birr in the Leinster Club Hurling Final on a very cold 30th November their manager, Maurice Alyward, expressed his desire to have such club games played during the height of summer. Such wishful thinking stems from his stated belief that the conditions at thi...

Re: New Jerseys Please - A call to all Fans

The very fact that the jersey was changed at all is nothing but good news. To paraphrase young Obama from Moneygall, 'CHANGE', any change was sorely needed. In addition to this, as stated at the start of the thread, the new design should at the very least help fill the coffers of the county board. A...

Red by name, Red by nature....

Not an internal issue at the moment but one which could have huge reprecussions for the GAA and one with which we have had our own experience with in the past. The Cork hurlers are outraged over their managerial setup, strike action is again a very real possibility. The rights, wrongs and fingerpoin...

Re: New Jerseys Please - A call to all Fans

Green togs? Sceptic. Now lets hear no more of that!

The green on the jersey though could be highlighted a bit though purely for a better appearance on tv screens. Something like the green of the 2007 limerick jersey perhaps?

New Jerseys Please - A call to all Fans

Just thought I'd issue a plea to any posters or viewers with either the clout or contacts in the county board to try and get new jerseys introduced for the Offaly hurlers and footballers. Not unlike the vintage garment of 1994 and 1998, the current issue has been around for far too long. Every other...

Re: Hurling Chapionships 2009

Have to agree with you Rynaghs Biffo, its about time Wexford received a good old fashioned beating from us. I too also believe that we are the better team, which made our two 1-point defeats to them in 2006 and 2003 all the more galling. However they will not be easily overcome, ie they will be no L...
