Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
For me there was a horrendous amount of aimless balls hit on top of the OLG half back line and just behind them where Paddy Deegan positioned himself and when that failedd, more were hit! Huge endeavour, but for me if thats what a management is telling the team to do then I give, this could not be t...

Re: Changing of Underage grades and Separation from adult
Farcical decision and in fairness in Offaly I don't see this as a fall off solution. Some of the thought processes at play are beyond belief. Minor often struggles to get the focus it should anyway and with lads u18 the better players will be under pressure as will be likely involved with U20, Leavi...

Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023
Congrats to Cloghan on winning the minor and at the same time preventing a clean sweep by Tullamore. A fortunate goal in the second half helped Cloghan alright but they were far the better team on the day. Tullamore were aimless and bar 1-03 burst either side of halftime it was hard to see any struc...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
Also, the ability of James Gorman to contest the high ball in the goalmouth is a useful option for other forwards to feed off. Could Offaly U20s do something similar next year if the channels for the threaded ball to Screeney are blocked? I think James Gorman is overage for the 20’s next year……….

Re: Changing of Underage grades and Separation from adult
I think the system should remain the same. 1. When young lads are 17 and in their 18th year they are ready for most grades of football, right up to Senior. Theyve had gym and S&C for a number of years. 2. many have had 12 years almost of development through underage etc. From my perspective anot...

Re: Offaly U20 footballers 2023
Very good posts and suggestions. Senior A players would be an interesting caveat and would help manage the workloads of lads like john Furlong, Cormac Egan, Screeney and Mitchell at the top end and in the end allow more players in these clubs to get exposure in the U20 competition. But might be a bi...

Re: Offaly U20 footballers 2023
Tullamore 2.13 St Broughans 7pts Tight enough first half with Harry Plunkett haven a really good day at the office on the frees and Jamie Guing kicking the frees for St Broughans only 3 points in it at half time . But then Tullamore killed the game off within 5 mins of the second half and we’re nev...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
I think there are a few things that need to happen this year. Mindset is a big thing. I think that we have to achieve a consistency of performance, and be able to interchange between attack and defence more seamlessly and adapt within games. For mindset, I think that discipline on the field has been...

Re: Club football championship 2023
Crazy stuff, if he was anyway right he would have been on the field playing. Tullamore have no one to blame only themselves and in fariness to Niall Stack, he's taken them as far as he can. He will step aside and needs to reflect how he can progress his style of play to progress which Im sure he can...

Summerhill to win 4-3, Ballycommon to win the rugby but lose the football, Daingean to scrape over the line

Re: Club football championship 2023
Decent game Saturday. Ballycommon the better side. They were composed around the field most of the time and their decision making was very good. Once again though Clonbullogues defence was marked absent, last 2 goals were a case of lads waltzing through and no one coming to meet them. Couple of subs...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
Congratulations to KK, fantastic performance, regardless of Shinrones display. Well done to Birr GAA. Well hosted and with Mundy playing it helped to spread the crowa entry out over a longer time. Of course the weather being perfect meant that the brollies wernt unveiled to block the view. I travell...
