Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Championship 2013

Rynaghs really were appalling yesterday. It's disappointing to see that after all their underage success, they have yet to really see the benefit in classy club/county level hurlers. That said, Diarmuid Horan was a cut above when introduced yesterday and Stephen Quirke should be pushing very close t...

And as a an aside is it just me or does anyone else find it amazing this is Birr's first county final since 2008. After all those years of dominance!!

It's not.
They lost the 2011 county final to Coolderry by 4 points

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Championship 2013

Storm force winds today. A pity.
Weather like this makes a complete lottery of proceedings. Any and all results are now possible.

Drumcullen getting a red card?
Shocking.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Championship 2013

SEIR KIERAN 1-17 COOLDERRY 1-16 I’m delighted for Clareen, who celebrated the breaking of new ground at the end. They are back in the semi-final for the first time since 2000 and I must check but I suspect none of them have played in a semi-final before. Clareen were clearly the sharper throughout ...

Re: Offaly county team managements 2014

Thank the Gods Ollie Baker has decided to step down. A team, already stagnant after four years of Joe Dooley, showed no progression under his reign. Neither in players, fittness, or tactics was any discernible improvement or indeed change made. Six years have now been wasted for the genuine class of...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Championship 2013

Has time drawn in on the young Coolderry team that blazed to honours in 2004? A long time ago now.

What legacy is 3 titles with that team? Good, bad or indifferent?

Re: Offaly v Waterford, SH qualifier, 22nd June 2013

I wonder. My own feeling of the KK game from two weeks ago is that Offaly are getting far too much credit for their performance both from the national media and our own supporters. While the first 30 minute performance was indeed laudable what proceeded there after was an absolute hammering - enough...

Re: Offaly Vs Kilkenny Leinster Hurling Championship

Team Announced.

One really wonders what Paul Cleary must do to start.
Many strange selections - one hopes there's an element of the dummy about it.

Re: Allianz-Hurling-league 1B

That team does not inspire confidence. The forward line in particular will struggle to make any impact from open play. Indeed when one considers the panel as a whole you can't but help get the feeling that we are now really beginning to feel the effects of our disastrous underage results of the last...

Re: Hurling Championship

Rynaghs have made a complete bags of this. Hardly surprising. Delighted for Belmont though and I'd imagine lots more are too. No more than Tubber in the football, Belmont are a club that many like to see doing well.

Re: Hurling Championship

Paul Clearly hurled an impressive game at FB with Rory and Barry Whelahan being the pick of the rest. Have to agree Paul Cleary was outstanding but at no stage was he full back,Barry Harding hurled full back! Rory Hanniffy was the best player on the field and with Offaly selectors at the match I ho...

Re: Hurling Championship

On the Birr/Drumcullen game, I was told that Breeder hurled outfield. Can anyone confirm or did I fall for one hook, line and sinker? He did. Birr were short numbers without taking from their intermediate team, hence Breeder being played outfield for the first half only. Something of a new Birr tea...

Re: Offaly vs Galway 17/6/2012 LSHC Semi Final

Disaster. Utterly and completely. That was incredibly hard to watch. My thoughts for what they are worth: 1: Defence. Destroyed. It has been a long time since a defence was so thoroughly outplayed as Offaly's was today. On both the pitch and, crucially, on the sideline, Offaly were utterly defeated....

Re: Offaly vs Galway 17/6/2012 LSHC Semi Final

Offaly didn't get much game changing from the bench against Wexford. Sean Ryan came on in the forwards but didn't make much impact. Other lads here will have seen him hurl much more than me, but I never really thought the had the natural traits of a corner forward. An inside forward is a much more ...
