Re: A trip down memory lane - 2003

I automatically switch off when it comes to Mick Sheridan and his opinions.
It is, however, a great pity that they were given a platform in a national newspaper.
God help us is right.

Re: Offaly v Kerry 12 April Thurles

A game that raises as many questions as answers. The standard was poor. As bad as it was Offaly were much worse again during the opening 10 minutes in allowing a wind aided Kerry look like Gods and build up an easy 7 points to love score. 2A was waiting with open arms. Eventually, inexorably, Offaly...

Re: Offaly v Kerry 12 April Thurles

Arra hold on lads. David Kenny hasn’t played a match this year – there’s no way he can line out against Kerry. But part of the thing about supporters is that they want to see the best team take the field every day but they also want management to ‘put on all the young lads’, they want to see a sett...

Rory Hanniffy is utterly, utterly wasted at full back.

Re: NHL OFFaly v Laois 16 february 2014

Stupidity is often defined as doing the same thing again and again yet expecting different results. The Offaly team that lost last year's championship game to Waterford was remarkably similar to that which bowed out (with considerably more pride) against the same opposition on that day in Thurles in...

Re: OFFALY Hurling 2014

Absolutely. I can't think of anybody with wrists like Rory Hanniffy. Walking out of OCP last June, the disappointment of the loss to Waterford was exacerbated by the thought that that might have been Rory's last time to wear the tricolour. Now that day will inevitably come, but at least there's one...

It's hard to overestimate the importance of Rory Hanniffy's return. Great news.

Re: Club Faithful AGM

Well done all. So far it's been a resounding success and a credit to the hard work from all involved.

When and where can 2014 memberships be purchased?

Re: Kilcormac/Killoughey V. Oulart The Ballagh

Commiserations KK. Oularts performance during the first 15 minutes of the second half was exemplary. A six point deficit after KK's opening score of the half was turned into a five point lead following the next fourteen minutes of what was fantasy hurling from the Wexford Champions. Although disappo...

Re: Offaly county team managements 2014

Brian it is. Should be interesting. Offaly's greatest ever hurler. Whatever about his knowledge about modern strength/conditioning etc - his ability to 'read' a game was unsurpassed. I'd be relatively confident he'd pick a team correctly. Rethinking the team and blooding new players is of paramount ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Championship Structure 2014

I was just listening to a soundcloud on the Midlands 103 site featuring some current hurlers and journalists discussing our championship structure and ALL were agreed that the current system is not providing the platform for an optimum hurling championship in the county. It seems that the main supp...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Championship 2013

An interesting game. The overall balance of play was actually surprisingly even between the two sides. Much of the seven point difference can be accounted for by Birr's unforgivable wide tally (16/17?) and the number of converted frees they conceded to K/K (12?), some deserved, others very dubious. ...

Re: Offaly county team managements 2014

I echo Loan Shark's comments on this. 1: For what exactly the Offaly Senior team need to be successful, Danny is Owens is most definitely not the man to 'get it out of them'. 2: Perception. This is key. Whether right or wrong , the appointment of Danny Owens would only reinforce the pervading sense ...

If Danny Owens is the pick we'd be as well off concentrating on the rounders.
