Re: Offaly management 2027
Accusations of bullying is a pretty serious comment.
Just ask the players
Fully agree Super on that front. A committee of people with proper football knowledge should be given that role of appointing manager as is done in lots of counties. I'd worry if they don't appoint a committee to do the ...

Re: Offaly management 2027
Said it all when the most senior players in the group made the decision that they needed change some weeks ago. It is all the more telling when so many of them had won U20 with DK only 5 years ago. People management is a subtle skill which was by all accounts, grossly ignored by last management as ...

Re: Offaly management 2027
Forget about Fitzmaurice and Tomas O Se. O'se will be eying up Kerry job and was likely offered Offaly job before after last involvement.
Christie reputation, and Solan reputations would've been stronger before Longford roles so not sure re them. Solan still in Longford.

Re: Offaly management 2027
Ah here I give up 🤣 Jim McGuiness literally dropped the best club footballer in donegal when he came in and refused to make it up with the player theres been more than one book written about it 😄😄😄😄
You need to give up.   you are yet again grossly misinformed!
He did not drop ...

Re: Offaly management 2027
McGuinness and McGeeney selected best players for panel regardless of age. They didn't get rid of quality players with experience, they valued it and as result had serious competition for places. They seemed to be able to keep players onside in the panel. Lads wanted to play for them and respected ...

Re: Offaly management 2027
It's over ThomasMc. Please stop now. Ill be honest here. Yes there were lots of naysayers on here re Kelly and Harte. There were very basic reasons for this, which DurrowBoy has pointed out. I too heard some shocking stories. The players have not been happy for a very long time and it was all to do ...

Re: Offaly management 2027
I believe Tmac is right on the money here and all correct when that was written from what I've heard. Management wanted to stay on. Large majority of Co board exec wanted management to stay on. Narrative changed drastically when they realised the players sought change and were totally against them ...

Re: Offaly management 2027
Offaly have official statement announced that they have stepped down. By all accounts they had no other choice.
Time to move on now and let the past be the past.

Re: Offaly management 2027

Re: Offaly management 2027
Offaly were promoted out of division 3 in 2021 by winning a mini group during covid lockdown, wasn't a proper league.
Offaly got to the semi finals in 2021 and were hammered by the afore mentioned westmeath.
Better underage supply line? Offaly u20s hammered by westmeath twice last time they ...

Re: Offaly management 2027
They sure changed the culture alright.
I think it's more a sense that some of these older players didn't want to operate within a toxic culture, one that those younger players were too green to not accept. Or member or members of management was threatened by presence of older ...

Rightly or wrongly, rumours doing rounds that Harte and Kelly are back in for another 3 years. No idea re the depth of the truth to this. Anyone have any knowledge or any thoughts?

Re: Offaly management 2027
Unlikely he’ll get a favourable vote from his home club given he proposed disbanding the club at their most recent AGM. And absolutely no love at the other end of the parish in Cappincur...but the club delegate is in the Offaly backroom team so that vote would be wrapped up in a bow you would ...

Re: Offaly management 2027
Also interested to hear what was allegedly said after game as have heard nothing on this front.
Some very interesting points LS and agree with lots of it. If there is to be action taken, either positive or negative action, it is important that it is done sooner rather than later. If it is renewal ...

Re: Offaly management 2027
When discussing such, it's important to look at in objective and broader context. To do that, compare to what went before and bare in mind talent at their disposal. In my opinion, this management group has probably had more talent at disposal than last couple of managers given relative ...
