Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024

(1) I’m with you on this one, Declan Kelly is the man selected by Offaly GAA to manage the Senior Football team. Talk of a change is not the solution, we have had a lot of managers down the years, and are still in Div 3, apart from 2022 when Offaly footballers had one season in Division 2, under Jo...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024

Time for clubs to stand up and say enough is enough. This is the nub of the issue right here. Let's say that for argument's sake, Declan Hogan and Peter Cunningham are choosing to walk away. These are two very dedicated players, and two guys that would be an addition to any Division One panel, so i...

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

This problem began when it was decided to permit Nowlan Park to host the U20 final without knowing who would make the final. As soon as it became clear that Offaly would be in the final it should have been switched to either the Gaelic Grounds or Croke Park. Not pushing for an allocation of tickets...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

From Laois' perspective, it's not different at all. No team would or should spend their time worrying about others, and last year Offaly had to fulfil a fixture against Carlow, this year Laois have to fulfil a fixture against Westmeath. Offaly weren't "choosing" to play Carlow in the final...

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

Plus would Nowlan Park hold a capacity Offaly and Cork crowd? Just on this one point, Kilkenny looked for this game at the start of the year in recognition of the 100th anniversary of James Nowlan's death, and it was granted - it won't be rolled back now. This is the one possible pairing that would...

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

8,000 paying customers PLUS all U16’s. No, it was just under 5,000 paid in. It's harder to tell with U-16s so there was an element of guesswork about the 8,000 number, I understand. Do you mean there was only 8000 in total at the KK game last week - 5000 adults and 3000 u16’s????? I’d say in the re...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Now that it is assured we are in the Joe Mac final, I was wondering about the all Ireland prelim quarter finals. I know we took a fair auld beating off Tipperary last year, but we were not in any form for playing after the heartbreak in last years Joe Mac final Last year, as we lost, we played the ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024

i feel we have been getting rid of managers too fast over the last 20 years since paul o kelly really. are we too expectant of mangers? you cant be blaming managers for player non performance. our u20s dont seem to be progressing as we had hoped for .a lot due to injury and many due to physicality....

Ter Guinan might be the most 1980s hurler name of any modern hurler.
From the county that brought you Hubert, Basil, Neville, Marius and Clint, all in my time watching Offaly, it's great to have him on board.

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

Well, that was just magical. In terms of the game itself, I don't have anything to add over and above what's been posted already (particularly yet another excellent contribution from Glendassaun), so I'll just say that I feel blessed to have been there, and to everyone involved, thank you. I do want...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024

I think that barring something very strange happens from here on in, this will in no way be seen as a successful season. Offaly would have to at the very least reach a Tailteann final before that would even be discussed, and to be honest would probably have to win it for it to be an unequivocal verd...

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

Greatest 1st post in the history of Uibhfhaili.com. Up there with the best of them, absolutely. I remember Silken Thomas coming storming out of the blocks too (https://www.uibhfhaili.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?p=12485#p12485) but the uibhfhaili.com underage system seems to have thrown up a potential ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

I know that, but I was referring to the Limerick contingent on the Kerry senior hurling panel, and the wider issue of non-native players being drafted into counties that are down the pecking order.
