Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
Any see the article in the Midland Tribune, (reproduced on hoganstand.com - http://www.hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=155441) during the week? Some of the names mentioned therein would really make you fear for the future of Offaly hurling - this talented generation of hurlers could be lost. Of a...

Re: Darragh O Sé linked to the Offaly job
Unless we find some Russian oligarch with an Offaly grandmother, then covering the 'expenses' from Dingle to Tullamore will bankrupt us.
Either that or we just let the hurlers manage themselves for a year.

Re: Hurling to return to St Brendan's Park
Contrary to the out of date and misleading thread stating 'Hurling to stay in Tullamore' I am compelled (and happy) to report that the Co Board Management Committee's 'proposal' that club senior hurling finals and National Hurling league fixtures be played in Tullamore in the future, with a possibl...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
5 years, GreatDay. Coolderry beat 'em by 4 points on a Sunday evening in Birr. Coolderry should have beaten Birr in the final but Gary Hanniffy rescued Birr with a late point and Birr subsequently won the replay by a point. Prior to that, Birr beat 'Rynagh's 1-15 to 1-10 in a semi-final in 2004. It...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
First time in a semi-final for Rynaghs in what, 9 years? Far too long for a club of their size/population and tradition. Offaly hurling badly needs them back and contributing players to the county senior team. It'll be interesting though to have the Birr/Banagher rivalry re-ignited after a long abse...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
Have to say I'm really looking forward to the games this weekend. Subplots, local rivalries - it'll be intriguing. This part of the championship is great - knock out games with plenty of clubs remaining. Added interest this year is the fact that any of the games could go either way. No matter who wi...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
I wonder would he be interested in my Bank of Ireland shares?
Seriously though, could you imagine the enthusiasm/interest/excitement he would bring back to the game in Offaly, among both players and supporters.
We can only dream.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
It is disappointing that the double header on the Saturday has been fixed for O'Connor Park as it means that the combination of the smaller crowd in the bigger stadium will lead to a minus atmosphere prevailing. This is such a key time in the championship - 8 clubs remaining in an open championship ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
any report on rynaghs n kilkormac.... was tis a bit of a shock as rynaghs were goin so well?? Not really. For a club with such a poor county representation allied to a horrendous record in the club championship over the last decade (including a good beating by Kinnitty in last year's quarter final)...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Club Championship 2011
Brian, Without condoning your actions last night, I'd like to echo Lone Sharks comments and say that Ciaran is held in the highest esteem by 99.9% of Offaly GAA supporters and by many many more outside the county not only for his on the field endeavours over such a long period of time but also for h...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Management 2012
Thinking about it, the Offaly County Board ' any former player = manager' mindset is typical small county ultra conservative nonsense where the few with All-Ireland medals are treated with an inordinate amount of respect due to their rarity. The same inanity doesn't prevail in Tipp, Cork or KK where...
