Re: Hurling Relegation play off
When I was going to the back of the stand of Parnell Park this man walked by and give me a free ticket. It said "VIP Enclosure" and "Ard Comhairle" on it. I took the freebie but it certainly wasn't right that most people paid €20 in. I steered clear of the VIP Enclosure and took...

Re: Hurling Relegation play off
Ah sure I found the place no problem. It was grand being able to park in the School grounds at the front. It wasn't really much of a match. Pretty poor standard of Hurling especially by the Glensmen. Offaly were always in control in most sectors. Brian Carroll stood out of the forwards, but I wont d...

Re: Hurling Relegation play off
The ones with the biggest justified grievance has to be Wexford. Compared to all the others, they actually won a match, beating us in the Leinster Quarterfinal. Their reward for that has been to get an even harder Qualifer draw than was even possible for us to get, i.e. against a corresponding semi-...

Re: Offaly Cork 1999
I remember much more about the 2000 match than the 1999 version. I echo the sentiments mentioned above about the "Langers" on the Hill. 2000 was a very sweet feeling. Jayz, I'm away this weekend. I'll have to dig out an oul' video tape and see if I can rememeber how to record a TV programm...

Re: tullamore and o connor park as a venue
Yes Kildare v Laois is set for Tullamore, according to the Leinster GAA website, with a likely cracking Minor Hurling game of significant interest as the "curtain raiser". http://leinster.gaa.ie/fixtures/upcomingfixtures.asp Leinster S.H.C. Semi-Finals Championship 2009 Satruday, 20th June...

Re: St Vincents to enter a senior football team
I know nothing of detail about this proposal, but my strong sentiment is "ABOUT TIME". I can remember back when the parish did have a combined Senior team, and it fell apart due to the very type of squabbles that have been mentioned above. My hope would be that the "hunger" of ma...

Re: The Offaly 1988 All-Ireland U-21 Winning Team
. . Incidentally, who were St. Conleth’s? The Daingean parish underage club at a guess? Yes, St.Conleth's was a name used for the Daingean Parish team for a few years. I really don't know why they changed it to St.Vincents (and I think there have been other variants too); unless someone reckoned th...

Re: worst pitch in offaly
.... I've played in most pitches in Leinster .... Dont be bragging! I can remember watching a Leinster Schools Final played in Daingean, with a crowd of a good few hundred people. Unfortunately it was about 25 years ago. It was a great pitch then. However, I'd say the Dressing Rooms haven...

Re: Richie Connor set to become new manager
Lads, try to remember what many around here thought when Joe Dooley was proposed for the Hurling post? Lack of experience? No winning record? Good players dont make good managers? He didn't turn out too badly after one year, did he? I hope he gets at least 2 more years before anyone considers review...

Re: Tickets for Saturday
does anyone know if you can pay at the gate for the match in tullamore? I'm assuming that at worst it will be a similar arrangement as for the Westmeath match, i.e. if it is "All-Ticket", then the tickets will be on sale just across the road behind the GAA Centre. I'm heading to the Footb...
