Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Positives - A win is a win. Decent score put up too. - Delighted for Charlie Mitchell he really was in the zone today and hopefully today will ignite his season. He is a class player and a match for any defender on his day. - Sampson and Cahill played well and we will need them leading the way as we...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Personally I think getting out of Joe McDonagh is more important than u20 and there can't be any room for complacency. Absolutely whip lads off after 50 mins if we are well up but until then go with our strongest, in-form selection. Shirley will have grown in confidence from his performance after in...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

A proper championship contest today it has to be said. Neither of these teams should be playing in a 2nd tier championship if they are to be given the chance to improve. I think the intensity of the first 50 minutes told for both teams, what differed was that Laois' bench added fresh scoring options...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

A lot to like about that team. They must play each ball though and be ready for the 'revenge' motivation Laois will have.plenty of depth there to really push on in the last 10. Big crowd needed down to push the lads down the home stretch in the last few minutes in what is a pivotal match for our sea...

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

Not sure if Ravenhill should have played today, he looked to be carrying a knock. We should have pushed on today and lucky to hold on in the end. With the round robin nature of these games I thought it would have been a good opportunity to give one or two more players some game time. If we are to go...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Going to be very tight between the three midland teams this year I feel. Both Laois and Westmeath have recent championship experience at a higher level. Despite our decent showing in the league this year, championship is different gravy. I get that we have to earn the right to play at the highest le...

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

Good win despite the atrocious conditions. Concerning how they were able to run down the middle of us quite a lot but the game will bring the team on. Only an observation, but for puckouts our entire full back line were very bunched together, granted it was not a day for short puckouts but it meant ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Not a whole lot to say about today as nobody will have come off the field content with their performance. A couple of observations 1. Do we have a puckout strategy? 2. We seemed completely lost when we won sidelines, this needs to be looked at. 3. Oisin Kelly should be left corner or full forward fo...

Re: Offaly Under 20s 2024

I think we will have a lot of last year's cohort. I'm open to correction, but I believe Mark Troy, Luke Watkins, Sam Burke, Cathal King, Cormac Egan, Charlie Mitchell will be overage. Unfortunately these lads brought a lot of the physicality last year so others will have to step up as the team will ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024

Thought Mikey Cunningham looked composed and is well worth his place.
Kickouts have been an issue all year up to today

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Heart warming performance and will give the lads great confidence that they can mix it with Kilkenny in their own back yard. Our workrate and cohesiveness is really impressive, whatever they're doing in training seems to be working. Of course it's not all perfect but just a couple of years ago we we...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Big one this weekend. Do we have any word on injuries? Hopefully Eoghan Cahill makes it. Does anyone know when Oisin Kelly is due back? I think the lads will take confidence from the Wexford game but nothing like playing Kilkenny in Nowlan Park to sharpen lads up. I liked the way Cillian Kiely &...
