Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

No, I won't help you out. If the point you're trying to make is that Offaly have no hope, I certainly won't be doing your research for you. These lads were born in 2004, 2005 and 2006. What went on before they were born is of no relevance here, any more than a Minor hammering from Kilkenny in 1968 ...

Since the 1998 All Ireland Final our record in the 3 grades vs Kilkenny is:

Senior - P10 W0 D0 L10

U21/U20 - P? W1 D0 L?

Minor - P? W0 D0 L?

We beat kk about 8 year ago in a walsh cup match in birr
I am referring to championship only.

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

We genuinely could be looking at 10,000 at this game.

At home, Kilkenny, we have a decent chance.

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

Clearly Adam Screeney, Donal Shirley, Dan Bourke and Cathal King should have been replaced at an early juncture but that's not the way Leo O'Connor or Johnny Kelly work. And we all know that. And we all know this power play is going to bite Offaly in the ass. Two massive egos who will end up doing m...

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

Following tonight's results we can be fairly sure we will be hurling in Portlaoise next Wednesday evening one way or the other. Yes the #1 seeds have home advantage but as you quite rightly stated Galway aren't entitled to any home games so if we draw them that will be brought to a neutral venue. An...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Very disappointed but not surprised considering the manager with our team selection for the game tomorrow. Absolutely no need to start Cathal King, Donal Shirley and Dan Bourke with an U20 knockout game on Wednesday night. Particularly in the case of King and Bourke who have been exposed to a very h...

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

I'm hearing Dan Ravenhill gone for the season..... The U20 and senior managers should be hauled in front of the county board to explain their selection policy regarding Dan Ravenhill. He clearly pulled his hamstring vs Dublin in U20 Round 1 and was eventually replaced. He then didn’t start in U20 R...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

With Meath up next it would be the perfect opportunity to rest our U20’s ahead of their Leinster Q-Final. However relations between the respective Senior and u20 managers are rumoured to be frosty to say the least so can’t see it happening. Senior management will more than likely use a mounting inju...

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

If Dan Ravenhill and Adam Screeney are unavailable we could be there for the taking, along with the heavy workload currently in place for Dan Bourke and Cathal King.

Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024

Galway and Kilkenny as Tier 1 group winners are directly into the semi-finals. And they can't meet each other so it's Kilkenny vs ????? Galway vs ???? If we progress to the semi-final I would be pretty confident it would be on TV as this U20 team is pretty high profile with the likes of Dan Ravenhil...

Offaly 5/6
Laois 6/5.

Handicap is Laois +1

Bookies say there’s nothing between them.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024

Offaly's scoring rate tailed off after 50 minutes in the league games. A more sustainable pace of play will be needed in the McDonagh games. The difference in the intensity brought by the opposition should play a part here on Sunday. Laois more than likely like Offaly are incapable of bringing a hi...
