I know I’m running the risk of coming across as Über anal here but the standard of the posts on this site have started to slip drastically in the last few months. I’ve been mad under pressure at work so I haven’t been going on the site as much as I was but a lot of the posts I’m reading are a pain in the hole to decipher.

I know one thing the administrators don’t want to do here is go down the Hogan Stand route of text speak, bad grammar and constant abusing each other so I was just wondering does anyone think there’s call for deleting posts that don’t at least make an attempt to make their post readable??

I know no-one wants to go down the censorship route but if a few posts were deleted at the start then that might encourage people to just write them properly in the first place?

So yay or nay? Should the Administrators delete posts that are overuse text speak and under use punctuation?

Obviously the administrators might not want to bother their hole but it might be good to let them know they have a mandate to do it if they want!

I second that. Nobody here is asking for Shakespearan English, just instead for simple grammer and spelling to be adhered to. It's not much to ask, after all even primary school children are able to master the basics.

Absolutely. It's only a minority of posters that do it, thus applying a firm hand for a couple of weeks along with putting an announcement at the top of the forum banning 'text speak' and the users that engage in it should sort put the problem.
The worry being that if the 'text speak' spreads, a lot of the better writers and posters may leave the site.

I think bad grammar and spelling is tolerable.
But this text speak is just ridiculous. With a full keyboard in front of you it's more difficult to use text speak. I know some users might be submitting posts from mobiles or such devices but I am against persistent text speak and these contributions should be removed.

Never mind the text speak, I'm more concerned about the broken caps lock and full stop keys on Leinstermans keyboard
