Was at it, some game.
It started with a bizarre own goal in favour of Banagher, and from there on the game continued on that note.
In the opening quarter Banagher looked the stronger with Rathdowney relying on frees to stay in touch. However two very dubious yellow cards were given to Joey O'Connor in a two minute spell after around the 20 minute mark.
Banagher managed a second goal through Ethan Mannion, however Rathdowney got right back into the game on the stroke of Half time with a well taken goal.
The opening exchanges of the second half were fairyl even, but things went from bad to worse when Alan kelly was shown a second yellow, thus reducing the Banagher team to 13 men. This was soon followed by a penalty for Rathowney, which was fired to the back of the net to give them a 4 point lead with 15 minutes remaining. it looked to be over.
However the Banagher boys refused to give in, scoring some good points in reply (one in particular from Stephen Quirke). They needed a goal and it duly arrived from the stick of Meeelick/Eyrecourts Trevor Moran about five minutes from full time , who also knocked over a couple of frees to seal a two point win. Banagher's win was assisted by some wayward shooting in the last quarter by Rathdowney, but this is in no way meant to take away from the efforts of the Banagher boys. It should also be noted that victory was achieved without a few of their regular starters such as Sean Dolan and Rory Wynne, and Sean Gardiner was forced off after 20 mins with a head injury.
Banagher now advance to the All ireland semi final where they will face the runners up from Munster.

Well done to Banagher College today, defeating Hazelwood from Limerick in the All Ireland Voc. semi final.
They will now face a very strong Causeway college who defeated Athenry in the other semi.
The final will be in Thurles in two weeks time. Both teams will know each other as they met in last years junior final, when the Kerry boy's came out on top. Causeway have since retained the junior title and have a physically powerful team along with a nice blend of skill.
Hopefully Banagher can get revenge in this years final and bring an All ireland back to the faithful.
P.S. Best of luck to Kilcormac who contest the B final tomorrow
