Leinster Club Football
The draw for the Leinster Club football looks a very good draw for the Offaly and/or Laois Champions to at least get to the final..
Draw
Dublin v Kildare,Winners play Louth
Wexford v Meath, Winners play W'MEATH
Carlow v Wicklow, Winners play Longford
Offaly v Laois
The Offaly/Laois winners play the winners of Carlow/Wicklow/Longford in the semi. That is a great draw.
The first round match will see either Moorefield or St Vincents gone presumimg that they win their County title.

At least one of the best clubs will be gone after the first round with the Kildare v Dublin match.
It certainly opens up the competition, and makes it more appealing.

Before ye head to a bookies to place a wager on either Rhode or Tullamore winning a Leinster club title, remember the winners of the Offaly/Laois tie will be away in all subsequent matches as they are place in the bottom quarter of the draw.
The Dublin champions, on the other hand, will be at home the whole way through.

Pat Donegan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

I find it very hard to see Rhode or Tullamore even getting over the laois champions.
Rhode are no where near the team they were in '05, '06 and even last year. Tullamore to me are very average, they have a good manager and commited players and 1 gem, Cathal Daly, which has got them any success they achieved. Any team that loses twice in the championship would be unworthy winners in my opinion.
So in a nutshell, not a hope of either winning Leinster.

I totally agree that neither can hold out any hope of doing anything in Leinster, and this just emphasises where football in the county is at the moment. I do disagree however with your claim that Tullamore would be unworthy winners this year. I find that a bit ridiculous as any team that wins the championship will have deserved it, regardless of the system or route taken. When the pressure was on they pulled out results and another on Sunday will deservedly give them the cup.redser wrote:I find it very hard to see Rhode or Tullamore even getting over the laois champions.

Portlaoise won yesterday easily enough and will be a tough nut for Rhode to crack. I feel that if Rhode get their tactics right again, as they did against Tullamore, then they will win. They owe Portlaoise a beating.

I heard that loads of the Rhode lads have gone to Austrailia? Can anyone confirm?naasmanxrhode wrote:Portlaoise won yesterday easily enough and will be a tough nut for Rhode to crack. Re: Leinster Club Football
Rhode gave Croghan (St Brigids) some beating in the league semi final on Sunday in Ballyfore something like 2-18 to 0-03. How will this affect the blues on Sunday next against the Carlow Champions (Kilbride) in Tullamore.

Neither are Portlaoise as good as they were. They have an average enough midfield, pretty lively small forwards but can leak scores too.redser wrote:I find it very hard to see Rhode or Tullamore even getting over the laois champions.

It might well come down to a battle between Niall Mc and Healy, who just picked up footballer of the year in Laois.
