Lets try make a bit of money!
Lets try make a bit of money!
Right guys lets get our heads together and try to make some money while we are waiting on our own games. My idea of a worthwhile bet is Limerick at 11/10 and Derry -3pts at 11/10, both with Paddy Power to make a nice little double. Any other ideas?

To be honest I think your playing with fire there lad so here is my suggestion
Wexford to beat Laois. I don't have the odds( anyone who could ablige?) but I imagine they would be around 6/4 or even 15/8???. Anyway even at evens they are fantastic value...
Forde, Lyng and Banville are quality forwards.
The backs are not going to win any All-Irelands but their midfield is solid with the likes of Rory Stafford to come in if needs be. They will be fierce hungry and anxious to start well after the last day. Jason Ryan, is and will be, an outstanding manager and they also have the spur of four semi-final defeats.
I really believe Laois are very average( in a national sense) and possess one true Inter-County forward in Ross Munnelly.
Wexford by 4.

The world is a stage, but the play is badly cast.

Wexford 21/20 Laois 11/10
Derry 2/5 Fermanagh 11/4
Mayo1/6 Sligo 11/2
Hurling
Dubs 21/20 Wexford 1/1l
Limerick 11/10 Clare 10/11
Odds supplied by Paddy Powers
My treble would be Wexford (football) 21/20, Clare (hurling) 10/11 & Dubs (Hurling) 21/20.
This works out as a 8/1 treble.
Derry 2/5 Fermanagh 11/4

Wexford are poor in the backs and Laois will have too much for them.
Limerick and Clare to draw.
Wexford to beat the Dubs by a 2/3 pts
Derry & Mayo for reasonably comfortable wins

Re: Lets try make a bit of money!
I'd agree with bula bula for what it's worth. Waterford were too bad to be true against Clare and as a result Clare were made look a lot better than they are. Limerick are a very decent team and I expect them to win tomorrow and will be punting them.
Derry minus three as well - Derry are the real deal now and Fermanagh don't have home advantage this time - Derry by seven for me in that one.
I think the prices are right in the two Croke Park matches so I won't be punting there, while I think Mayo will beat Sligo with a bit to spare as well but won't be having an involvement there.

Derry have let the double down already but will be having a lash at Limerick anyway. Really think they will have too much for Clare and are definitely over-priced. Was delighted for Fermanagh even though they ruined my bet. It just goes to show what effort, organisation and will to win will get you. They are an example to all teams in how they applied themselves and just wish I could see something like that from us before the end of the year.

Well that didnt go as planned. Paddy Power has got back most of my profits from the early fixtures so will have to give next weeks games a lot more consideration. Not sure now whether LImerick would be a harder proposition than Cork. Not looking forward to whoever it is now, was really hoping for Clare.

Well that weekend was plain carnage. Boyles went 4/1 Limerick at half time, when they should only have been around 7/4. They let me bet, but then refused my covering bet when Calre went out to 11/10. Hoors.

Was actually thinking of the same half time bet but could not get to a bookies. If I had seen 4/1 I would have thought all my christmas' had come together. At least now I have a little cash left to try ressurect something this week.

Re: Lets try make a bit of money!
The football back door is fairly fraught with danger this year - I wouldn't be rushing in to back a backdoor team right now.
I actually like a lot of what Liam Sammon is doing in Galway, and unlike Mayo, if those lads do make it to Croke Park they won't leave it behind them. I think Tipp have a way to go yet - if Cork get their act in gear they'll be Kilkenny's biggest danger I reckon.

Gonna go for the dubs this week at -5 priced 11/10 and Armagh -2 at evens both with Paddy Power. Might just have a little saver on a draw in the northern game at 7/1. You just never know with Down, they are capable of anything.

Re: Lets try make a bit of money!
Powers have just priced up the qualifiers and have Limerick at 9/2 to beat Meath at home. Taking a formline through Wexford, that's a huge price. I'm on already and I strongly recommend it.
The prices on our game are 4/7 Down, 9/5 OY and 7/1 draw. A little too kind to us I think - I'd say 4/9 Down and 12/5 Offaly would be closer to the mark.

Re: Lets try make a bit of money!
9/2 is an absolute giveaway. Limerick were the first bet I thought of when the draw was done. Will probably look to the handicap instead though, bets have gone a bit in the wrong direction the past few weeks. Will give this weeks games a big swerve. I agree that 9/5 on Offaly against Down is way too short and down look tempting at 4/7 but even I wouldnt go down that road to make a few bob!

Re: Lets try make a bit of money!
Lads, I think a 'formline' through Wexford is a bit misleading if you are basing that on taking the Limerick 9/2. While I'd agree Limerick 9/2 is a big price, I'd expect Meath to win this game. Meath will have their suspended players back, and still led Wexford by 10 points with 20 minutes remaining. Coyle's changes that day killed them, and Brian Farrell still had an easy free to clinch it before Wexford finished off their comeback.
I'd be more looking at Limerick's gutsy performance against Cork. Are they an improved outfit this year, or were Cork guilty of chronic complacency? I'd suggest the latter, and I can't see Meath not winning in Limerick.
