Last Thursday week kids from around the county were called for trials to see who would get called into the Brian whelehan school of hurling. These kids are the future of Offaly, and their parents brought them to the trial.
The first group did a 5 minute warm up, played a game for 20 minutes after which 10 of them were told they had made it and to all go in and get togged off. The exact same was done for the 2nd group. That is a shocking way of treating 40 kids.
This is how the academies are run, no drills, no skills, no talking, no coaching, no refreshments, no fun. I have never witnessed the likes of it in my entire life. This is a complete joke.
When it God's name are people in Offaly going to realise that this isnt good enough in 2008. Unless changes are made at underage level we will never ever compete at senior level again and thats the reality.

Underage Selections
" In The Presence Of Confidence Doubt Cannot Exist "
Re: Underage Selections
Oh my God!!! OF actually makes a good point!!
Ah but really a disgusting way of treating any hurler of any age..
Would surely destroy any hurlers confidence.. Well maybe not Brian Carroll..
