Re: Club Football 2026
Iv heard this morning from a fairly reliable source that Leon Fox, Joe Maher, Ronan Maguire, Jack Egan & Bernard Corcoran have all returned to play for Ferbane this year.
And there were fellas in this forum that tried to tell me Ger Rafferty wasn’t an issue in Ferbane the last few years.

So the problem was with the the manager and not the players? Why then was it only 3 players had a problem?

How can you say they are awful poor this year? Based off what exactly? League games down 10+ county players? Tullamore will likely win championship again because they are better drilled have better management and Dont have as many dual players. Ferbane will be the only team that will cause them trouble

Madness to blame Raff for Jack Egan and Leon. Jaysus he must have been awful bad if he made Egan emigrate to AUS. Leon was with Louth due to work commitments the dog on the street knows that.DurrowBoy17 wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2026 2:19 pm Iv heard this morning from a fairly reliable source that Leon Fox, Joe Maher, Ronan Maguire, Jack Egan & Bernard Corcoran have all returned to play for Ferbane this year.

Ferbane I'm sure will come good very few teams will play their hand in a league campaign anyway.
Just looking back on some of the league results I see Durrow gave a walk over to Rhode again. When I seen I had to question so rang a local out there. Sound fella wouldn't lead you wrong seems to be the same old narrative Sister club treating them like dirt. Maybe you could expand on this abit more Durrowboy17 instead of looking for flaws at other clubs in previous years.

County board needs to step in here, points deduction for both clubs if either fail to fulfil a fixture in championship and that will sort that out. If it happens a 2nd time then throw both out of the championship. Has to be a deterrent
Re: Club Football 2026
I've seen them a few times and they arent looking great.. i think they will struggle this year and wont be near tullamore, they may even be caught out by some of the smaller teamsBehindthegoal wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2026 12:50 am How can you say they are awful poor this year? Thomas id have to agree with you in somewhat capacity but not all. From what I gather out of the conversation its all take from one side. Higher powers over in Ballinamere are certainly not helping. Id feel it be hard on a club to have such repercussions when trying their best. We don't really know the ins and outs of why the game was conceded so i don't want to speculate but maybe durrowboy will let us know?? Could have been a genuine reason........

Well Im more talking about the game they conceded last year and we know the reason for that, some or the players opted not to play because there was a hurling match the following week, that should not be allowed happen and its in that scenario that i think a deterrent needs to be in place, the threat of the club being docked points in the hurling would fix that.. this is not 2 seperate entities, they are effetcively the one club, a dual club with a big cross over of players and need to be treated as such.. anyway youd have to take durrow boys opinion with a bit of salt anyway
Re: Club Football 2026
There was an incident with St Martins of wexford last year where they were in the leinster hurling and leinster football and they prioritised the hurling putting out a completely different team in the football first round and none of the hurlers played the football.. now fair enough they fielded a team but stuff like this should not be allowed happen where they have committed to both, they essentially brougtht the competition into disrepute. They essentially knocked themselves out of the football to focus on the hurling.. something needs to be put in place to stop anything like that happening again.. a fine is no good and i believe while most will say its harsh that in a situation like that, the hurling team should then be thrown out of the championship.. pretty sure they'd field their best team in the football then and treat the competition with respect.
