Silver Jubilee Celebration for '85 hurlers

Offaly's All-Ireland SHC winning hurlers of 1985 will gather in Doheny and Nesbitt's, Lower Baggot St, Dublin the night before parading as this year's jubilee team at Croke Park on September 5.

Twenty-five years on from their 2-11 to 1-12 win over Galway, members of the team will gather to celebrate at the popular Offaly establishment from 8.00pm on Saturday week, September 4, and will be the guest of honour at Croke Park for the meeting of Kilkenny and Tipperary.

This event has been organised by the Offaly Association, Dublin, and is sponsored by Tom Mangan of Doheny and Nesbitt's and the Offaly GAA Supporters' Club.

A great session.
Tom Mangan made sure everyone was well watered and fed.
The highlight of the night was Joachim Kelly singing and extended mix of the Offaly Rover and brilliantly recreating the commentary for both Pat Cleary's goals from the final.

The only pity was that the Offaly team got scant coverage on RTE. There were a few seconds of deferred highlights. Instead we were treated to about 40 minutes of long winded punditry from the studio.
