FAO: Offaly U-21 HURLERS

Post by Offalys Future »

It has come to my attention in the last few days that a few of the lads that are on the senior panel
aren't happy with not getting a run on Joe Dooleys team.
I have mixed views on this
Firstly i believe to be successful at senior level you should have only 1-2 players u-21 on your panel.
That is unless you have players that have won minor and u-21 all-irelands.

Secondly. Maybe you are right to be unhappy that you aren't playing. Maybe you deserve a run and you
ain'y getting it. But why walk off a panel?
Why not show a bit of maturity and stick it out?

On wednesday week you will be playing Kilkenny in Nolan park. That is the night to prove yourself.
You can hurl well is as many club games in offaly as you like but to me they are meaningless.
Wednesday week is the night to prove yourself.

If the 10 Offaly u-21's that are on the senior panel show the right mentality in the next week and a half then
we would have a good chance of taking Kilkenny. The 10 of them have got good training over the last 6 months.
And if they are good enough to be on the county senior panel then they should be good enough to really put it up to
Kilkenny.

The question is are you good enough?
Because if you can't shine in a u-21 game then there isnt a chance you be good enough at senior intercounty level.

Just for the record i think 1 or 2 guys deserve a shot. But it really depends on wed night. They have to perform.

Sounds more than reasonable to me.
