A very proud Offaly man in Newbridge today.
Whatever about putting in a performance when the odds are against you, we really put in a professional performance today to get the job done.
Kildare were fairly limited and I was fairly disappointed with them, but to a man every one of our lads stood up ...

Re: U20 hurling 2026
Just on the Leo O'Connor comments above.. I'm neither for or against his future senior managerial prospects but the skill gap I saw today in kilkenny and last week against Dublin was far more deep rooted than a season of coaching.

Re: U20 hurling 2026
I made the trip to Nowlan Park today believing that the performance Vs Dublin was a one off. My god I was wrong.
Half time here in Nowlan park and it's 4.16 to 0.2.
Deplorable.
I know they are young and still developing but we're like a bad junior team. Striking poor, fitness poor, slow all over ...

Re: U20 hurling 2026
It was just a very bad day at the office for our lads yesterday.
Does anyone know the age profile of the team?
O'Sullivan at centre back looked very strong and Sweeney, Guinan, Hogan and Fletcher showed glimpses too. What better way to make up for a bad performance than to take on the Cats.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
A heartwarming display on Saturday night, we cannot ask for any more from our lads.
It certainly wasn't perfect and our striking and first touch let us down a few times, but each of them more than made up for it in heart and effort.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Very apparent that the management team have taken this group as far as they are going to.
The only pattern of play that we seem to have built on is a short puckout where we play one pass to a loose man and he then switches to the other wing where Hoare makes a run out. Hoare then plays a long ball ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
No ball sticking in our full forward line again, and again no changes made. Our striking, ball-handling and first touch is certainly a 'work on'.
Massively impressed with Ben and Killian who showed they can mix it with the best, we are lucky to have them.
Plenty of lads getting experience but I ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Johnny kellys team selections baffles me...
For a successful manager im suprised at the amount of swaping and moving he does no players seem to get a decent run at one position.
To top if off he constantly plays certain players no matter how bad their performance is.
Am certainly not trying to ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Disappointed overall, not sure where people are seeing optimism. A very average Galway side and their hurling was a level above us.
Full back line did pretty well given they were under a nice bit of pressure. Ben is really solid at full back. Hoare did his bit between the sticks.
Thought Sampson ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Really feel we can get something out of this game with a strong lineup out.
Would like to see a consistent performance across the 70 minutes for starters. Need to see a couple of goals too.
Excited to see the stability Sampson brings to centre back and brilliant to see Shirley in his best position.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Hopefully the ground in SBP holds up for this weekend.
Any indications on injured players returning? We could really do with getting some game time into Shirley, Sampson, Burke, Rigney, Mahon, Mitchell et al. Championship is only just over 8 weeks away

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
A lot of positives to take from today for sure, but the same old problems coming to the fore....not being able to win our own puckouts, fading out of games and a lack of goals.
The positives:
- the two Ben's in the full back line were excellent. Miller is really holding his own at this level which ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
An away trip to ballinasloe for the diehards. Proper January hurling today, hard to read much into it.
It looked like James Mahon picked up a nasty injury, hopefully he makes a quick recovery.
We tried to play a short passing and running game which probably made sense in the conditions but broke ...
