Have to agree on the situation with Cian Johnson. A forward has to be able to stop kick outs and defenders getting out easily. Of course as an attacker he is a threat, but he needs to be able to do that aspect of the game too.
Without that you get over run the other end. are all the rest of our ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Great to get the 2 draws but its GAA and you are only as good as your next game.
Heads down and focus as even if the Wexicans are not going great, by Jaysus would they love to put us back in our box. Plus this is their All Ireland as they are likely to beat Galway if they need to in the last game.

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
Good game to get anyway as if you win away to Clare its clear you could compete, whereas a win against many of the other teams we could draw would not indicate much.
With right atitude we should have enough to have this a tight game that can go either way.
Better off playing a strong team in my ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
Reading reports galway could have scored 5-30. 4 points down with 10 to go was very good going all considered. Reality is Galway know they are going to a leinster final. They ll beat wexford and kildare handy. They are already planning for the all ireland series knockouts.
Fair enough analysis i ...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2026
From the commentary on the radio i took the following,
-Galway roughed up a few of the lads and seemed to get away with it
-Galway missed a lot of chances and didnt get out of 3rd gear
-Offaly's first touch was poor....look back at the full Dublin game and there was a lot of poor touches and ...

You are well briefed for a man swearing vengeance on management....you clearly have one focus in mind.DurrowBoy17 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 12:22 pm Playing Galway in a challenge this eve in Claregalway.
So tell us, how did the game go after?

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
Whether Declan should be manager next year, I'm not going to go into that.
But the level of shite thats up here now is gone too far.
He's one of the most successful and committed managers in recent years in Offaly. I said one of before ye jump up and down.

Re: U20 Footballers
Can’t fault the effort.
Longford made less mistakes and that was the difference. They dominated the kickouts to a large degree and had a more controlled attacking pattern. Quick ball to inside line and often target the no 12 as a shooter.
Terrible evening for a game but plenty of effort.

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
Best team we've started all year I would say.
Laois also look strong.
Going to be a 50/50 game, but we should edge it.
Our bench of Bryant, Bracken, Higgins, Plunkett is strong and should hopefully edge it for us.
Anyone else not make the 26 panel that we're aware of? No Johnson on the 26 ...

Good win and nice to see a few changes deliver also.
Keeps lads on toes.
Should be good battle for places now and likely q final v Longford.
Fair dues

Re: U20 Footballers
Kildare controlled the game and played to patterns and were cautious in their attacking play.
They cut us open easy enough and could have scored a lot more. The 5 point gap could have easily been treble that.
Yes , half the team were poor. maybe we can step it up, maybe we can’t.

Re: U20 Footballers
Some poor performances particularly Eoin Dunne.
Brian Carroll hardly touched the ball, Kaelum Bryant offered nothing. Other midfielder and centre back were limited too.
Eoin Rouse never got going.
Yes Kildare are a good side, and if they had a real go at us we could have gotten a serious scutching ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
Best of luck to the team.
Up to supporters to get out and support the team for this one at least.
Either way, given that lads have been picked throughout the league, I’ve highlighted them before , who haven’t played anywhere near their own level, I don’t see many changes.
Noting that Laois beat us ...

I think the description you're looking for is football and* hurling county rather than just the singular football as entire south offaly doesn't play football.
It's the football thread and the discussion was about poor football attendances.
Everyone else understood what he meant, you're ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football 2026
Id say you are not far off the mark here in Offaly either.
Apart from the Kearneys, theres not been too many from Ballyskenach/Kilavilla, Shinrone, Coolderry and others at too many football games in recent memory I would say.
